One of the more intriguing variants was the Elite II, which was introduced in mid-1983, and disappeared when Fender was purchased from CBS in early ’85. While subsequent variants of Precision models would have two pickups, the Elite II was the first to offer twice the sonic output of a normal P-Bass. But the Elite II was a bit more complicated…

Fortress is a bolt-on bass with a wenge neck and a maple body. The 5 string version has J-J pickups, the 4 string version has a P-J pickup setup, most fortress one basses have passive electronics though there are also basses known to have active electronics, further on it has all other distictive Warwick features like a two part bridge and a Just a Nut I. the body of the Fortress one is a so called slab type though it is shaped so it can be worn comfortably (shaped like Fender shapes Presicion basses and Stratocaster guitars) on the back side there is the easy access cavety with tidy finished electronics. the neck sports bell-brass frets and counts 24 of them, easily accessable through the top frets. the neck is thin, especially for a 5 string bass, but feels very nice, it is best comparable with the Fender Jazz bass neck.
